Louis XIV

King of France during Glorious Revolution. Led many efforts to establish control over Western Europe, noted for persecution of Protestant Huguenots. While Louis was a strong Catholic monarch, he was often at odds with the Holy See over issues of politics, and also differed on many occasions with James II. Arch-enemy of William of Orange, his power began to wane after arrival of William in England.
