Chief Justice George Jeffreys

George Jeffreys will live throughout history as the ultimate example of tyranny from the bench. Known for his drunken rages, ruthless attacks, and complete absence of mercy, Jeffreys became well-known during the period after Monmouth's Rebellion. As Lord Chief Justice, hundreds were marched before The Bloody Assizes, and few lived to tell about it.
