Professional Biographical Information:
Carol
A. Watson is no stranger to the University of Georgia. She earned three
of her four tertiary degrees at the university, including a J.D. from
the School of Law.
In
1987, Watson began her
professional career at the university's Law Library. She currently
supervises
the law school's Computing Services Department, provides legal
reference services using electronic and print resources, and develops
pages for the school's Web site. Additionally, Watson is serving
a two-year term as vice-chair of UGA's Information Technology
Management Forum, which provides the university with expertise on IT
management and leadership issues.
Watson also coordinates and speaks on Internet
legal research topics at many Institute of Continuing Legal Education
seminars. In addition, she has given several presentations at the
American Association of Law Libraries' annual meetings.
Watson's
other professional legal experience includes working as staff attorney
at the university's Legal Aid and Defender Clinic and clerking for
Kardos, Warnes and McElwee.
As prefaced earlier, Watson holds four tertiary degrees,
three of which she earned from the University of Georgia. Her first
degree, a Bachelor of Arts in comparative literature, was earned in
1981. She earned her Master of Education two years later. In July
1990, she completed her Master of Science in Library Service at
Atlanta University. Her fourth and final degree, a Juris Doctor cum laude from the School of Law, was obtained in 1987.
Watson is active in the American Association of Law Libraries (national
and southeastern chapter) and is a member of the Georgia Bar
Association and American Bar Association.
